The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) which is the apex body for Technical Education in India had recommended that the State Board of Technical Education in each State may be made statutory body in order to have effective control over the maintenance of quality and in order to achieve excellence in the standards of Technical Education and to protect and pursue the ever-in demand field of Science and Technology to enable it to involve actively in the re-organisation and the much needed reform of Polytechnic Education.
